Teiid 8.13.3 Released

Teiid 8.13.3 is now available.  In total 8.13.3 addresses 10 issues since 8.13.2:
  • [TEIID-4028] - adding salesforce-34 resource adapter does not work through the cli
  • [TEIID-4066] - Odata translator ClassNotFoundException: com.sun.ws.rs.ext.RuntimeDelegateImpl
  • [TEIID-4070] - Issues with resource adapters with api modules in wildfly
  • [TEIID-4089] - Teiid JDBC driver does not reset the update count when calling getMoreResults(int)
  • [TEIID-4093] - OData authentication fails with NPE when gss-pattern related properties are included in VDB
  • [TEIID-4096] - AssertionError with independent side of a dependent join that has an ordered limit
  • [TEIID-3050] - allow for more incremental insert with iterator
  • [TEIID-4075] - Netezza translator to support common table expressions
  • [TEIID-4098] - Always preserve columns order in google spreadsheets models
  • [TEIID-4046] - OData - $skip is beeing ignored
This release also includes an updated web console that addresses several issues.  Cumulatively that is well over 50 issues fixed since the initial 8.13 release.   Ideally we'll be able to slow the pace of 8.13 patch releases from here.

Thanks again for all the community work in identifying issues.  Next up will be 9.0.0 Beta1!

  1. Hi, I had a lot of missing artifacts when trying to install the embedded examples with maven. I followed the instructions.. Any requirements to the installation of firefly or teiid?

  2. Embedded does not require WildFly. What is the link to the example you were following specifically?

  4. The instructions and the pom file need updating. In the root pom.xml the teiid.version is set to 9.0.0.Alpha2-SNAPSHOT - snapshots may not be available from the repository. You should set that to an actual release version, such as 9.0.0.Alpha2 or 8.13.3. We'll get that updated: https://issues.jboss.org/browse/TEIID-4108

    1. Nishant,

There is no new web-ui (yet..), I believe Oyvind simply used a wrong name for web-console.

Authenticating datasources with LDAP or Kerberos in Amazon AWS

This blog is mainly to showcase one of the community success story with Teiid and Amazon AWS. The need for our community user Ben Kibler  was to provide data sources in AWS be participating in Kerberos authentication. Not only participating, he wanted to provide a consistent usage and access pattern, and a light weight integration layer  for these data sources. He choose Teiid embedded for this purpose, and provided an extension to hook Auth services back into their corporate Active Directory.  With that his applications can participate in kerberos auth with Teiid, and then same token will be delegated to underlying data sources in Amazon AWS. The rest was provided by Teiid. Read more about it and find the supporting code at https://developer.jboss.org/message/920818#920818 We love to here about your success stories on Teiid. Also, if something is not working for you as you expect, then come engage us in a discussion, together we can solve the issue the OSS way! Thank You BenK

Teiid Spring Boot 1.7.0 Released

Teiid Spring Boot version 1.7.0 to support Teiid 16.0 has been released. This release is mainly to support the Teiid's latest version.  In this release, the support for OpenAPI code generation based on VDB has been removed as there is no community interest and moreover it was at OpenAPI 2.0, and the industry has moved to 3.0 and beyond. There are no plans to further pursue this feature. VDB maven plugin was also removed, which was intended to be a replacement for the VDB importing feature was to be used when working on OpenShift, however, since it requires the Maven repository and does not completely represent the feature as defined on the WildFly based deployments this is also removed. You can still use the VDB import feature with Teiid Spring Boot, simply define the VDB with your "IMPORT DATABASE" statements and provide the additional files along with the main VDB file. During the start of the application, Teiid Spring Boot will load all the necessary DDL files for the

Teiid Runtimes Explained

If you have been following Teiid lately we have been going through a whole lot of renovations. Yes, renovations or reorganization or refactoring or whatever you want to call it. Basically, we are making Teiid more modular with fewer dependencies that can be used by however your use case dictates rather than use it as one monolith application deployed into WildFly JEE Application Server. There is nothing wrong in using Teiid as server model, but with the proliferation of container-based workloads and cloud-based architectures, the previous server-based model does not work or simply won't scale. So, we needed to think of alternatives, thus Teiid team introduced a couple different versions modular Teiid what we are calling as "Teiid Runtimes". Note that in these modular Teiid runtimes, not all the features you were used to using in Teiid Server model may not be there but you will have extensions to add in those that are most appropriate for your domain.
